Spring in our Backyard
This will be our third year to try to coax raspberries to grow. The last two summers we put in starts from my parents' raspberry plants, the same ones we grew in our last house. These raspberries may take a little while to get established, but they never disappoint! I am so excited to eventually have enough to make jam with.

We planted this peach tree in 2011, and this is the first year we'll let the peaches grow on it. Can't wait to see how they turn out!
This isn't a great picture, but here is a glimpse of our new trampoline. I always dreamed of having a trampoline growing up, and even saved up all my babysitting money to buy one, but my parents always thought they were too dangerous. After years of telling our kids the same thing, we finally caved and Santa promised them one in the spring. It arrived in April, and the kids spent almost the entire summer on it! One morning soon after Brent put it up, we looked outside to see five new large balls rolling around on it. We had no idea where they'd come from, so just told our kids there must have been a Ball Fairy during the night. We found out a couple months later that our next door neighbors put them there. What a great idea! Having the balls added such an element of fun and games to the trampoline. There's usually at least one ball bouncing around on there with the kids.

For the Cedar Hills Family Festival, Emma, Elizabeth and I all entered the baking contest. Elizabeth made Picnic Brownies, and Emma made the Fun Marshmallow Bars pictured above. They turned out really yummy.
Rachel with tiger face paint from the festival (sorry I didn't take better pictures). This has become a fun summer tradition for our family. They have a carnival, movie night, fun run, parade that goes right by the end of our street, and fireworks. It's nice because our town is small enough that it's within walking distance and not insanely crowded.

In June, Matthew started playing the clarinet! He did the Jr. High's summer band, and really enjoyed it. He is now practicing clarinet along with piano every day!

Unfortunately, I did not time the pictures well, and the sun was so bright it looks like they're in agony rather than smiling for their daddy! Joshua was wearing a dragon costume that morning.
