Davis Family Reunion

My mom's side of the family had its Davis reunion in June at a park in Salt Lake.  It was so great to see many cousins I hadn't seen for so long!  This has got to be where my curly hair comes from.  If you see anyone with curly hair, that person is definitely related to me!  This includes my cousins and some of their kids.  The weather was actually pretty nice for the afternoon reunion.  There were all sorts of fun games for the kids, including the traditional "money hunt" through a big pile of sawdust.  This is a Davis family tradition going back I don't know how many years.

My cousin Kristin in charge of the piñata.  It got pretty intense!

Joshua found his cousin Sam and spent the entire time running around with him.

And, they're off!  They organized the money hunt by age groups, starting with the youngest first.  They'd add more money each time.

My sweet step-Grandma Marilyn told us stories about experiences with my grandpa Mel.  They were only married a short time-- but long enough to serve a mission to Mexico City together-- before my grandpa passed away.

Joshua had his very own can of grape soda-- good thing we were outside!    He and Sam made a bird's nest with rocks for eggs.

One of my favorite things about the reunion was all the vintage Davis photos on display on the tables.  To top that off, I was able to take home digital copies of all those photos on a CD-rom.  Since I am such a visual person, family pictures are such treasures to me, especially of my ancestors.  I feel like it's a great way for me to connect with them.
